news, upcoming literary events, and other items. A "members
only" section of our website contains listings of contests,
grants, hot markets, and other resources.

Bio listed on the MWG Website. (We have had
editors of national magazines look through our bio section.)

Members are eligible to have their recently
published books promoted on our books page of the MWG
website.
Membership Criteria
Membership
Requirements:
Anyone who has met at least one of the following requirements
is eligible to apply for membership in the Guild * ...
(1)
authorship or co-authorship of a published book, whether on
substantive royalty or fee basis;
(2) sale of three
substantive articles, stories, briefs, poems, or comparable
materials in one or more newspapers, magazines, or trade
publications;
(3) sale of one serial or novelette to a
periodical;
(4) sale of one play to a producer, whether on
royalty or fee basis;
(5) sale of one motion picture screen
play, radio or television script for an educational recording,
filmstrip or motion picture.
*The membership
committee shall evaluate each application on the basis of
guidelines developed
by the committee,
according to established publishing standards. Meeting the
minimum criteria
set forth above does
not guarantee acceptance into the Missouri Writers’ Guild, and
the decision
of the membership
committee shall be final.
Dues: Annual
dues are $30* and extend from April 22, 2007 to April 28,
2008. {Please send
dues checks made out to MWG to Missouri Writers Guild, c/o
Christine Taylor-Butler, Treasurer, 737 Manheim Road, Kansas City,
MO 64109.} Please note: You may apply for membership at any time,
but to be listed in the annual Directory, your dues must be
paid by August 31.
*Dues for new members joining after
January 1, 2008 (and before April 28, 2008) are reduced to
$15.
